Aikane Kauai Vacation Rental is among the closest homes to Poipu Beach. This is an ideal home for couples, families and small groups. Just walk past 2 homes to the ocean then along the coast past 3 more to reach the first of several great beaches, snorkeling lagoon, body surfing and grassy play areas. Aikane is Hawaiian for 'friendly' which best describes this delightful beach house.
Travel Light. There is generally no need to rent, buy or pack gear. We equip the house with about everything you might want for the beach including boogie boards, noodles, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and sand toys. We also provide WiFi, coffee maker, coffee grinder, full separate sets of bath and beach towels, washer/dryer, beach toys, games, dvd's and lots more. Though we have several at the house, we recommend guests bring their own masks, snorkels, fins and life jackets if desired to ensure proper fit.
I designed our home to take advantage of the cooling trade winds with cross ventilation and ceiling fans in all main rooms. For added measure, we also have wall mounted a/c units in the bedrooms. Hot water and electricity are provided by the sun with seamless backup if needed. Covered parking at your front door is an especially nice feature on those warm days.
Max occupancy is 7 counting the youngest to oldest. No parties and no smoking. 3 Bedrooms and 3 full baths. Bdrm #1 has a king size bed. Bdrms #2 and #3 can be set for either 2 twins or 1 king in each. For kings, we have special lambs wool center with a heavy horizontal strap covered with a topper and quality bedding.
Our home is fully licensed and was never a long term rental. Owned and managed by Chris, a life long Kauai resident. Book directly with the owner with confidence.

Release of Liability
Guests are granted access to Rental Property and many of amenities that exist within the property. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Guests agree to use any personal and real property belonging to the Homeowner at their own risk and agree to release Homeowner of all liability associated with using such property. Homeowner cannot be held responsible or liable for injuries that occur while Guest is in possession or use of property. Guests agree to further to take on any liability associated with a third-party guest visiting the Rental Property or use of the Homeowner's property. Homeowner does not permit use of any of Homeowner's Property other than by the Guest and hereby disclaims any claims of liability associated with the Rental Property or property within and around the rental unit.

Rental Agreement / General Terms and Conditions of Booking
Please review our terms and conditions. These are not meant just to annoy our guests and satisfy our attorney, they are required so we may continue to provide a nice alternative to hotels and condos. Our goal is to provide the best experience possible when renting our vacation home. Here goes;
Agreement: By accepting your reservation confirmation and paying the deposit and rental, it is understood by all parties that you have reviewed and accepted the following Terms and Conditions which constitute an agreement between you and Chris White, dba Aikane Kauai, “the Owner” for your rental. This Agreement is binding upon you and all members of your party. References to “you” mean the person to whom the confirmation is addressed and references to “Guest” or “Guests” mean you and all members of your party.
Permitted Use: Guests are licensed to use Aikane Kauai and related amenities for lodging. Aikane Kauai shall not be used for commercial activities. Weddings, receptions, parties or functions exceeding the number of registered guests are not permitted on the property and may result in immediate eviction without refund. Guests will not use or permit Aikane Kauai to be used in violation of law and shall not create any disturbance or nuisance. This license may be terminated immediately and all Guests removed from Aikane Kauai if any Guest or their invitees violate this Agreement or engage in destructive, abusive or unruly activities. Aikane Kauai is leased without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap or sexual orientation.
Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of overnight guests allowed is seven (7). The youngest to oldest and everyone in between are counted as guests. Temporary visits by unpaid guests are limited to a maximum of 5 people. The Owner reserves the right to demand the immediate removal of excess occupants.
Deposits, Changes and Cancellations: A deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Changes in reservation dates can be made free of charge provided the dates are available and are at the Owner’s discretion. Cancellations must be made in writing by e-mail or text and must be confirmed by the Owner. It is your responsibility to be sure a cancellation is confirmed. Deposits and payments are fully refundable less a $100 cancellation fee if cancellation is made at least 90 days prior to arrival. Cancellation notification within 90 days may also result in forfeiture of the rent. There will be no forfeiture if we are able to re-rent to another party for the amount and period affected by the cancellation. Trip insurance is recommended.
Rent: The full rental amount is due 90 days prior to arrival. Reminders will be sent and follow up phone calls made to confirm if necessary. Your reservation may be canceled if payment is not received by the due date. The Owner will send the lock box code and additional info after payment is made. It is the Guest’s responsibility to print, save or otherwise note the code before arrival. No refunds will be issued as a result of failure to do so.
Arrival and Departure Times: Check-in time is after 4:00pm on the arrival date and check-out time is by 10:00am on the departure date. Early check-in or late check-out is not allowed without prior written approval.
Our housekeeping and maintenance staff typically arrive between 10am to 10:15am unless PRIOR arrangements have been made. If you are leaving on a night flight, we recommend including your departure night in the reservation so you may have full use of Aikane Kauai into the evening. Unauthorized late check outs are charged $75 for the first hour past the 15 minute grace period or portion thereof and $200 for the second hour and banned from future stays.
Smoking/Pets: Not permitted inside. Violations will be charged for cleaning and fumigation plus a $250 service charge.
Housekeeping Services: Excessive departure cleaning, if necessary, will be deducted from your security deposit.
Repairs and Maintenance: We make every effort to ensure everything is in working order. Guests shall notify the Owner immediately if there are any damages or malfunctions. In the event of a breakdown, we will strive to repair or replace as soon as possible. Guests shall not be entitled to refund or credit for conditions beyond the Owner’s reasonable control including power outages, adverse weather conditions or breakdowns of barbecues, appliances, air conditioners, TVs, appliances, internet, etc. You shall be responsible for any damage resulting from failure to follow instructions and for any repair, replacement and cleaning charges attributable to misuse or wear and tear in excess of normal use.
Water and Septic: House tap water is safe for consumption and normal household purposes. Aikane Kauai operates on a septic system. We ask guests not to flush anything other than toilet paper. Do not flush Feminine hygiene products. Do not use any bleach as it kills the septic flora and fauna resulting in a foul odor.
Responsibility for Guests’ Property: Each Guest is solely responsible for their own property. The Owner is not responsible for any loss or damage to guests’ property. We recommend locking doors and putting away beach gear. Use of any and all items provided with our home is at your own risk and liability. Guests and their invitees agree to hold the owner and owner’s agents harmless for any damages to self or personal property resulting from accident, injury, or loss due to weather, flood, defective construction, fire, theft, or any other reason. In the event any suit or action is filed arising out of or relating to this agreement, the non-prevailing party shall pay the attorney’s fees and costs of the prevailing party, whether related to arbitration, trial or appeal. This Agreement will be governed by Hawaii Law and Renter agrees to venue in Kauai County, Hawaii in the event of any dispute under this Agreement.
Damages: You are responsible for replacement costs for damage to Aikane Kauai or its furnishings or amenities during the rental period caused by Guests. The Owner reserves the right to exercise any legal remedy to collect amounts owed.
Lock-Out/Lost Key: We provide 2 keys in addition to the lock box key. We recommend the lock box key be put back after use so it is available if you need it. There is a $50 charge to unlock the door if you are locked out due at the time service or deducted from the deposit. Emergency contacts are listed next to the lock box if you are locked out.
Wild Life: Kauai has geckos, ants, roosters and other wild life. Common practices including keeping screen doors closed, the counters clean and not leaving food out are typically sufficient to enjoy a bug free stay. We have a regular maintenance program to keep uninvited guests off the property. Our goal is to provide you with a healthy, bug free place to stay, however, there will be no refunds or adjustments for situations beyond our reasonable control.
Release and Indemnity: Each Guest acknowledges and agrees that use of Aikane Kauai, including without limitation any amenities, may involve risk of personal injury, death and property damage. Guests accept the risk of using Aikane Kauai and hereby release and waive any and all rights and claims of any nature they have or may have against the owner, its employees, agents, representatives and insurers (collectively, “releasees”) which in any way arise out of or relate to use of Aikane Kauai, including, without limitation, any rights and claims based on the negligence of releasees or any other party. The foregoing release and waiver includes, without limitation, any and all responsibility or liability whatsoever any releasee may have for personal injury or death, property damage or loss or other damage that may be suffered from any cause related to utilization of Aikane Kauai. Each guest agrees to indemnify and hold releasees harmless from any and all claims, including those of third parties, arising out of or in any way related to utilization of Aikane Kauai by guests or their invitees.

Great house and location close to Poipu beach
We had a great stay! The owners were VERY responsive to any questions we had and updated us on local events that we might be interested in. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. The ocean view on the lanai was a favorite spot each morning for coffee! The house could use some updating but the pictures on line were accurate (so no surprises). I would stay again if we came back to the island. The location is central to most of the islands natural attractions. You could walk to the beach and the local beach restaurants and the house supplied the beach chairs, umbrella, towels and cooler needed. Thanks again for allowing us to stay! I would not hesitate to book this rental if you plan to be in Kauai! Mahalo!

Perfect rental at Poipu
This was one of the best vacation rentals we’ve ever stayed at. Location and layout of the house were perfect for a family of six. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach. Great snorkeling, even for 70 year old novice! Chris was very helpful and has the house well stocked with gear.
