Perched on a peninsula 160 feet above the Pacific Ocean, on what many say is the best lot in the Princeville Resort, our property, a newly built, three bedroom home, offers spectacular 180 degree white water views from Makana Mountain (Bali Hai) to the Kilauea Lighthouse on the North Shore of Kauai. Secluded from the street, our 2900-sf private home is a perfect place to experience island living at its best.
Having owned the lot since 1987 and lived on island since 1994, we have had plenty of time to carefully design our retirement home so that every room has a dramatic ocean view. Now is your chance to enjoy this property before we make the decision to move from our current island home five minutes away.
From the front door, walk into the expansive living room which frames the ocean to the north and features a sixteen foot built-in entertainment center with a 75 inch Smart TV connected to cable and Netflix Streaming. Each of the three bedrooms (two with CA king size beds and one with a queen size bed) and en suite baths boasts unparalleled ocean views, Smart TVs, and quality bedding. A fourth full bath is available in the garage as a mudroom. The large, fully-equipped kitchen hosts new GE Profile appliances, granite countertops, and a killer view down the coast – perfect for any home cook or chef.
The 400-sf outdoor lanai faces west where the sun splashes into the ocean from April to September of each year. Walk down the terraced peninsula and look below to watch sea turtles (honu) swimming along the reef, or better yet, if you’re a strong swimmer, take a 15 minute hike and swim with them. No sand or exercise for you? Then simply walk outside the front door to a 30 foot infinity edge swimming pool and enjoy the sun and tropical breezes from there. An evening in the hot spa, star gazing in the dark sky, puts the final touches on a perfect Hawaiian day.

Rates do not include 14.42% Occupancy Tax, $500 Cleaning Fee or $3000 Security Deposit. Payment by check, direct deposit or wire transfer. Deposit is 50% of the rental rate, cleaning and taxes. Balance is due 60 days prior to arrival. A Short Term Rental Agreement must be signed upon booking.

Should you wish to cancel the reservation, notice of cancellation MUST BE IN WRITING AND RECEIVED MORE THAN 90 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR CHECK IN DATE. All monies paid will be refunded. If your notice of cancellation is RECEIVED LESS THAN 90 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR CHECK IN DATE, all monies paid will be forfeited except the security deposit, unless the property can be re-rented at the same rate for the same period. Any rental, partial rental or reduced rental for the same period will be credited to you, less a $250 cancellation fee. Travel insurance is advised.
Rates are displayed in US Dollars. 50% of the rental rate, cleaning and taxes is due within 7 business days from the date of booking. The balance plus the Security Deposit is due 60 days prior to arrival. Payments by personal checks, direct deposits or wire transfers are accepted.
This is a payment of $3000 collected from the guest to cover possible damage to the property. It is fully refunded within 10 business days if there are no damages. We inventory and inspect the property before and after every stay. The guest will be charged for missing items, excessive cleaning, violations of the house rules, and any damage done to the property beyond normal wear and tear.
Release of Liability
Guests are granted access to Rental Property and many of amenities that exist within the property. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Guests agree to use any personal and real property belonging to the Homeowner at their own risk and agree to release Homeowner of all liability associated with using such property. Homeowner cannot be held responsible or liable for injuries that occur while Guest is in possession or use of property. Guests agree to further to take on any liability associated with a third-party guest visiting the Rental Property or use of the Homeowner's property. Homeowner does not permit use of any of Homeowner's Property other than by the Guest and hereby disclaims any claims of liability associated with the Rental Property or property within and around the rental unit.
A maximum of 12 people are allowed on the property at any given time. A maximum of 6 people may stay at the house overnight.
Ants are a common problem in the tropics. Keep the kitchen clean from bread crumbs and food spills. Please roll the large trash container in the garage up to the street sometime on Tuesday for pickup Wednesday morning.
Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 8 am. Please be respectful of others. No loud parties, no music outside after 10 pm.
No pets allowed.
Smoking is not permitted inside the house, on the lanai or near the windows.
YOU ARE REQUIRED to leave the property in the same general condition that you received it by making sure the following is done before you leave: 1) dishes are clean and put away; 2) the home is generally picked up and ready to be vacuumed, dusted, and sanitized; 3) all windows (including louvers) and doors are closed and locked; 4) all lights and fans are turned off. If additional cleaning is required, appropriate charges will be deducted from your security deposit at the rate of $100 per hour. You will be charged extra if you fail to leave the house in the condition described, for excessive sand in the house or on lanais, or for damage to the washer or dryer from sand.

The Ultimate 60th Birthday Celebration
My family of six just spent an incredible week at Honu Point to celebrate my 60th birthday. The memories we made there are getting us through these new difficult days of self-isolation due to coronavirus. Our experience was perfect from the moment we first got in touch with Rae-Marie to the sad moment we pulled away from this magical home in our rental car.
Rae-Marie and Tom are so helpful from start to finish. The photographs of the house truly do not do it justice. It is impeccably decorated and is incredibly roomy and comfortable. I cannot adequately describe how the design of this house incorporates the views of the ocean and the sound of the surf. No attention to detail has been spared in meeting the needs of the guests and making them feel at home.
We thoroughly enjoyed lazy days in the spa and pool or whale watching from the gorgeous expansive front lawn that overlooks the cliffs of Kauai with a view of Bali Hai to the west. The kitchen and pantry have everything you could possibly need. We shopped at Safeway and Foodland on the morning of arrival and ate many meals at the house. We also ate out at some wonderful restaurants nearby: Happy Talk, Tiki Iniki, The Hanalei Bread Company, and Makana Terrace at Princeville Resort (all were wonderful with great service and food). We enjoyed going to many local beaches: Ke’e, Pua Poa, Anini, Hideaways, Sea Lodge, and Hanalei Bay (our absolute favorite beach in the world!).
We surfed, snorkeled, and boogie boarded using the items supplied by The Mays. We also rode the bicycles a few times. One of the neighbors, Roger, gave us a lovely walking tour of the neighborhood to introduce us to all of the Albatross babies and parents that hang out. Watching them fly is a real treat!
We golfed one day and took daily family walks all over Princeville. We went to the weekly local market in Princeville and shopped in the charming boutiques. We were fortunate to get a parking pass (must purchase online) and hike the Kalalau Trail on our last day. We also enjoyed playing games at the kitchen table, splashing around the spa and pool, reading on the thoughtfully placed outdoor seats and benches, watching whales spout and breach, and cooking meals together. It was so beautiful and relaxing.
We have vacationed in many five-star houses all over the world but none can top Honu Point! We hope to return to Honu Point in the near future and highly recommend it as the absolute best place to stay in Kauai!

A Most Memorable Family Vacation At Honu Point
We had the most memorable family vacation at Honu Point. The 180 degree views of the ocean were spectacular. Rae-Marie and Tom have thought of everything that you might need and supply it! We wanted for nothing.
We did so many things in Kauai (zipline, Waimea, beaches), but everyone in my family said our favorite thing we did on our vacation was hanging out at home together at Honu Point.
I have a 21 month old son, and Rae Marie told me about the local Keiki Day, which is Children's Day. We would not have known about this otherwise and had a wonderful time meeting other families who live on the island.
We hope to come back. I don't know how we will top this vacation!

Third Time at Honu Point!
Our family has been so fortunate to have just spent our third time at Honu Point. There are many reasons we return to not only Kauai, but specifically Honu Point. Rae-Marie and Tom have made their house a welcoming, inviting home providing everything imaginable for a luxurious stay.
The home is immaculate and equipped with every possible amenity. The breathtaking views, sunrises, sunsets, ocean breezes, albatrosses, lush landscaping, peaceful surroundings...all absolutely fabulous!
We feel truly blessed to have spent another vacation at Honu Point. After the first time we never imagined we would/could return. But when you return home and the only place you can think about is Honu Point...well, we made it work again!
