Oceanfront Poipu condo with AC, #305 Kuhio Shores, best snorkeling, diving and surfing on property

Kuhio Shores, our "Jewel on the Sea," on Kauai's sunny Gold Coast.

When we first walked into what was to become our new home in Kauai, the views of the ocean, coastline, and lush green hills and palms literally took our breath away! Located on a fantastic snorkeling beach (rated best snorkeling in Kauai by 'Sunset' magazine) and a summer surfing favorite, we could see turtles feeding below the lanai and blowholes out in the distance. Around the corner, we saw where we had first learned to snorkel, next to one of the best restaurants in all of Kauai, the Beach House. Our oceanfront, one bedroom condominium, #305 at Kuhio Shores, exceeds our dreams!

If you are on your honeymoon, wish to recapture the romance in your relationship, or you just want to experience the awesome beauty and serenity of this 'jewel on the sea' by yourself, with your family, or friends, this is the ideal home for you when vacationing on the Garden Island of Kauai.

Kuhio Shores is closer to the ocean than any other condo or resort on the entire island of Kauai, with swimmable beach onsite Learn to snorkel by the famous Beach House Restaurant, on the west side of the building (teaming with over 650 varieties of fish!), then get into the water below our lanai to snorkel or dive with turtles! On the south side of our property, relax on the grass and watch surfers (little kids will amaze you!)and spot whales in winter. Right here, are three of Kauai's premier surf spots: PK'S, Acid Drops, and Centers. The building sits on an ancient lava flow where one can surf, dive and snorkel at the same location. Wait until you see the fish cleaning stations located right in front of our building. Hungry from ocean fun? We are walking distance to delicious restaurants (and shops and galleries). Next door is the Beach House and we are a short walk to Kukuiula with renown chefs and a natural food store. Also the home of the weekly Culinary Farmer's Market. Live Hawaiian music makes it festive and you can't find produce like this anywhere on the mainland.

In our completely private, third floor condominium (4 floors total), the only thing you hear is the crashing of the waves. As soon as you open the front door, your eyes go out to the ocean. You have unobstructed views from the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom and, of course, the lanai.

Remodeled for the most discriminating guest, our home reflects the Hawaiian tropics. Comfort and beauty are our priority. Bamboo floors glisten in the light of the morning sunrise. Finishes, in tropical greens and earth tones, create a peaceful, clean atmosphere. Bathe in luxury in our Noccino Italian marble shower with stone accents. The kitchen features Brazilian, Verdi Peacock granite countertops that reflect the aqua of the ocean and stainless appliances. In the dining room, bamboo wainscoting and a huge mirror framed in dark tropical wood, reflects the crashing waves, bringing the spectacular beauty of Kauai's nature inside.

The new ultra resort style cal king bed is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. We use two mattress covers, one for added cleanliness and the second for extra cushioning. High thread count sheets are topped with a silk filled comforter encased in a cotton duvet, We top the bed with one of our many embroidered scarves, making this a truly blissful bed. Ocean breezes cool you naturally as they are pulled through the bedroom breezeway and new Haiku fans made by the Big Ass Fan company are rated best fans on the market by CNET. In 2017 we installed air conditioning. It is rare to find condos with air conditioning on Kauai. We want you to be comfortable even if the Trade winds should stop.

In the living room, is a comfy contemporary/island style queen-size pull-out couch that has a five-inch-thick mattress (no bars or poking springs). Two Hawaiian-style reclining chairs are perfect for laying back to watch the waves, listen to CDs, or watch cable TV. The hand-carved dining room table with rattan chairs is your exclusive seat to spot playful spinner dolphins. On our large lanai are two chaise lounges, chairs, and tables; you will be so comfortable, you may not want to leave. Seeing a rainbow, or the moon shimmering over the water will create lifetime memories.

We love the arts so we collect original works of art by renown artists that reflect the lushness and peace of Kauai. Our masterpiece is by Fred Gemmell. This large-scale abstract painting on the back of glass was at sea for a month before it arrived in our Kauai home. "Fred 'captures with complex detail and bold gestures, the amazing diversity, and adaptability of life in all its interaction and beauty..... to create a feeling of a luminous and unfolding mystery.” We are also pleased to display original pastel paintings by local Kauai artist, Helen Turner, the "Degas" of Hawaii.

Because we know you are probably tired and hungry after your long journey, we give you an 'Aloha Basket' with snacks and coffee, so that you can immediately begin to relax. The 'Aloha Spirit' truly exists on the island of Kauai. We have done our very best to bring this spirit into our 'Jewel on the Sea.' We continue to update.

While our home is beautiful and comfortable with lovely plantings on the ocean, you are walking distance to Baby Beach and the resorts of Poipu, and to the Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor, Spouting Horn and the Allerton National Botanical Gardens. We are on the Gold Coast Historic trail and walking in every direction provides another vista. Across the street is a Hawaiian Heiau, Prince Kuhio Park. It is a Hawaiian holy site and the birthplace of Prince Kuhio. There are fruit trees and plumeria,an ancient lava stadium walls with fish shaped pond. It will be preserved so there will never be building behind us. Everything one could possibly need or want is right out the door. We are surrounded by beauty inside and out.

Activities Onsite

We love snorkeling and have done so throughout the world. We have never seen as many fish and varieties of fish right here, in our "backyard." A premier shore dive and three surf spots are just steps out the door. Designated a scenic drive, take a walk along the "gold coast" to the little Kukuiula boat harbor, with views of the spouts going off at Spouting Horn. Continue a little further to Spouting Horn and the National Botanical Gardens. Just gorgeous! Head another way and pass by a neighbor's magnificent Bonsai garden and a hidden place where turtles come in for the night. Continue on to the big resorts and the golden sand crescent beach. Stop and have a drink or a meal before heading home. Head another way to Kukuiula marketplace with its shops, restaurants and art galleries. Excerpt from a guest review: "For me, the most exciting aspect of our stay here was its splendid wildlife viewing. Turtles in the cove just beyond (below) the lanai. Whales farther out to sea. Birds hopping and singing in the palm trees by the lanai. We also visited an endangered monk seal hauled out for a day snooze on the beach at The Beach House restaurant less than a two-minute walk from the condo. (If you are lucky enough to encounter a monk seal, please respect the rope fencing wildlife protection volunteers put up in a perimeter around the animal. This protects both the seal and humans!) The most thrilling wildlife display of all is a flock of hundreds of Rose-ringed Parakeets that roost near the condo each night, flying off each morning to forage elsewhere. Watching these bright emerald birds come and go was an amazing sight and, for me, a truly spiritual experience! They will make a delightful subject for my paintings, as well! Kauai is truly at one with nature, as all the Hawaiian Islands are. Kuhio Shores 305 was an absolutely ideal base for exploring the island and its natural wonders. My thanks to owners Molla and Kevin for sharing their beautiful Kauai home with us. I have no doubt we will be back!" - 2017 Across the street is a Hawaiian Heiau, sacred to Hawaiians with a historic fishpond. Markers lead us through the park with views out to the ocean. Take a walk through the sacred park, imagining what life used to be like while enjoying the fragrant scents of plumerias. Pick up a dropped mango to enjoy later. Walk to the shops at Kukuiula for a delicious meal, then stroll art galleries, the organic soap store (where we buy your bath soap), and peruse unique shops for home decor and clothing. Bring your bags for the Wed night farmer's culinary market where we buy home-grown exotic fruits and vegetables while listening to live soft Hawaiian music. Restaurants from afar bring their delicious dishes. Best of all is the magnificent panoramic view from the wall of windows and our extra-large lanai. Drink your morning coffee while enjoying changing colors of the sunrise over mountains and the ocean. Because of the time difference we are up. Each afternoon take a break from sightseeing to watch the turtles as they feed on the coral and ancient lava below. At sunset walk over to the Beach House lawn to watch the surfers and do some people watching, and as the sun sets, be amazed as the adorable parakeets fly in to roost for the night. Be sure to bring your camera because this property, our property, is world renowned for its beauty. Splurge and go out to dinner here or go home for the best oceanfront dining on Kauai. Inside or outside? Which do you prefer?

Serenity with Marvelous Ocean Views

We loved our 12 day stay at Kuhio Shores 305. The lanai is perfect for morning coffee watching the sunrise, afternoon reading observing the turtles, and evening stargazing. The condo is well-equipped with everything you need to enhance your stay. The art collection is marvelous. The location is superb for exploring Waimea Canyon, the National Botanical Gardens, & the Poipu beaches. We tended to eat lunches out while we were exploring and then cook dinners at the condo so we could enjoy our evenings on the lanai. Molla is excellent to work with. We would definitely stay here again.

Best Vacation Ever in the Most Amazing Condo!!

This condo has not only the stunning views, perfect location, and most gracious host, it was loaded with numerous amenities, beach toys, kitchen supplies, and local Hawaiian art. Constant warm tropical trade winds and the sound of ocean waves crashing on the volcanic rock shoreline added to the tranquility of this Garden Island treasure. While snorkeling right outside the condo, we were greeted daily by numerous tropical fish of many different species. Even saw Honu (green sea turtle) twice!! Nearby golf courses are definitely Bucket List items also. Only had time to play Poipu Bay and Princeville Makai, which were absolutely stunning! Can't wait to come back to immerse ourselves again in the most relaxing, ideallyic environment imaginable!! Look no further than this condo for your next "perfect Hawaiian Island oasis"!
