Menehune Shores "Eagle Nest" Oceanfront Penthouse

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP FROM 2021 AND EXTENSIVELY REMODELED
Menehune Shores 627 - oceanfront penthouse with breathtaking ocean views from both the living room and master bedroom. One of only two unique penthouses at the end of the building, it has 2 feet higher ceilings and 4 extra windows. You can see Haleakala from both bedrooms and both showers. Nobody walks past our door and the second bedroom window! Split AC system with an AC in every room.

OUR CONDO – INSPIRATION
We fell in love with this condo at the first sight. It’s a corner penthouse with Haleakala on one side looking into its 4 extra windows. Being this high with 270 degree views, we called this condo “Eagle Nest”, because it just felt this way to us. The corner of the railings outside of the front door reminds us of the famous movie scene with Jack and Rose on the bow of Titanic. But please don’t try to reenact that scene!

If you are curious to learn about Menehune, find “menehune hawaiian leprechauns” to read a fun and well-illustrated article.

OUR CONDO – DETAILS
This condo is located on the South side of the building, looking to the open ocean, the island of Kahoolawe and Molokini crater. It’s on the quieter side, away from the pool and restaurant. The condo has high ceilings, lots of light and air.

The two bedrooms – Master and Guest - are symmetrically situated. Each has its small entry alcove with doors to the bedroom and the bathroom. Both bedroom closets have custom shelving system and mirrored doors.

Master bedroom has a Cal King bed – a firm Serta mattress with memory foam top. Master bathroom has a shower over a bathtub.

Guest bedroom has two extra-long Twin beds with Nectar mattresses. By default, the two beds are made separately, but they can be connected into one King bed. If you want to have one King bed during your stay in the guest bedroom, let us know after you book, and the housekeeping will prepare it for you: the two beds will be connected by a special bridge so there is no gap, and you would still have two separate twin duvets on the bed. Guest bathroom has a shower with a low curb, no bathtub.

In the living room, we have a new Queen sofa sleeper with a foam mattress. Clean bedding and linens for it will be prepared in the linen closet near Master bedroom – mattress protector, duvet, sheets (fitted and flat), 4 pillows. You will need to make the bed yourself. Always put everything back to the linen closet when you close the sofa bed – the sheets left inside the mattress can break the mechanism.

BEACHES FORE SWIMMING AND STROLLING
We are right on the beach: Kalepolepo beach park is on the right side of our building. It has a shallow swimming area protected from waves - an ancient fish pond. In the deepest areas, the water is from waist to neck deep depending on the tide and your height. There are resident turtles in the pond that can usually be seen in the morning. The beach has white sand, trees and palms for shade. On the other side of this fish pond the ocean bottom is a bit deeper for swimming.

An excellent stroll starts to the left of our building. You can walk along the beaches for 1.5 miles one way.

Humpback whale watching season is December through April.

Great condo in a perfect location in Kihei. Easy to get places and the owner was very responsive. Unit has everything you'll need for a wonderful vacation.
Kellie, stayed February 2024

This condo was well worth every penny. Wonderful views, serene setting, close to town and amenities, great beach for strolling and swimming as well as a lagoon and pool. The unit was clean with extra linens, a washer and dryer, cleaning supplies, a kitchen stocked with cookware, beach chairs, and boogie boards. The other people we encountered at the condo were all pleasant. The pool was cold, but well maintained. It takes about 5 minutes to drive to Long’s Drugs, Safeway, food carts, restaurants, banks, etc. Elena was responsive and clear with her instructions. The only downfalls were that the road sounds were loud when we slept with the slider open (screen shut) and the parking spots are tight. However, if you shut the slider while you sleep, you won’t hear the road noise and if you rent a behemoth vehicle like we did, you’ll get really good at parking that beast. We explored all over the island and would stay in this condo again.

Elena's place truly deserves all the glowing 5-star reviews it receives. From start to finish, she was incredibly responsive, answering any questions we had before, during, and even after our stay. The accommodations were spotless and comfortable, and there was something truly magical about falling asleep to the sound of the waves each night with the windows open. We loved spending our mornings and evenings on the Lanai, watching the whales play in the distance—whale sightings were practically constant! Everyone we encountered on the property was warm and welcoming, and we have to give a special shoutout to the property management team who went out of their way to help us when we had a dead battery in our rental car (we accidentally left the lights on all night). Access to the beach was incredibly convenient, and spotting sea turtles basking in the sun in the protected swimming area was an unforgettable bonus. If you're searching for the perfect place to stay, your search ends here!
