Annual Made in Hawaii Festival

Each August on Statehood Day Weekend, Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall and Arena, Honolulu

The annual Made in Hawaii Festival features nearly 400 exhibitors who showcase food products, books, gifts, apparel and jewelry, arts and crafts, produce and many more home-grown products from around the 50th State. Hawaii Statehood Day is August 21; on that day in 1959 Hawaii Statehood became effective.

Eat the Street

Last Friday of the month, 4 pm to 8 pm, Honolulu

Walk around and explore a wide variety of food from food trucks at Kakaako Park. Eat The Street also happens in Mililani, West Oahu and other areas around the island throughout the year.

Over 60 creative Hawaii’s artists, designers and aficionados showcase their goods and talents at this monthly ART + FLEA events on Oahu. Come shop for souvenirs, or just look at art and have fun.

Art Lunch at Hawaii State Art Museum

Last Tuesday of each month, 12 pm to 1 pm, Honolulu

A presentation or lecture by an artist or arts professional. Bring your own lunch to eat during the presentation, or buy one from the museum cafe.

Hands-on Activities at Hawaii State Art Museum

Second Saturday of each month, 11 am to 3 pm, Honolulu

Hands-on art activities for all ages on the ground floor of the Honolulu State Art Museum. All materials are provided; drop in at any time during activity hours, allowing at least 30 minutes to complete a project.

Royal Hawaiian Band Concerts

Every Friday (weather permitting), 12 pm to 1 pm, Honolulu

The band was put together by King Kamehameha III and was once known as the “King’s Band”. They performed for state occasions, funerals and parades. This tradition of sharing Hawaii’s music continues today with free concerts at the Iolani Palace Grounds and/or on some Sundays at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand.

Live Entertainment at Hawaii State Art Museum

First Friday of the month, 6 pm to 9 pm, Honolulu

The museum is open late with live entertainment. Take the stairs or the elevators to the second floor. There are also art sales, a bar, and special menus.

ARTafterDARK is a monthly art party organized by volunteers of the Honolulu Museum of Art. This Oahu event has a different theme for every month. Bring your friends to drink and eat while waking the museum. It might get crowdy towards the end. With the membership, you get free access to all 12 monthly events.

Since 2004, Bank of Hawaii has sponsored free admission to the Museum on the third Sunday of every month. The day offers a program of art activities, entertainment and film focused on an exhibition or art principle.

Free Kids’ Yoga Class in the Park

First Friday of the month, 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm, Honolulu

Kids of all ages are invited to have fun with an easy, story yoga class at Magic Island. Come for yoga and stay for the free Waikiki fireworks show.
